The España Hotel Barcelona first opened in 1859 under the name ‘Fonda de España’ and was later refurbished by the well-known modernist architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner with the help of Eusebi Arnau and Ramon Casas. The new design earned the recognition of Barcelona’s City Council who, in 1904 awarded the architect with an Honorary Diploma, naming the hotel ‘The establishment with the best artistic-ornamental décor’. By bus,
from Barcelona-El Prat airport: Take the Aerobus outside the airport and
get off at 'Plaça Catalunya'. From there, take metro line L3 direction to ‘Zona
Universitaria’ and get off at metro stop 'Liceu'. The hotel is at one minute
walking distance from the station. The Aerobus service normally runs every 15 minutes.
You can catch it from outside all 3 airport terminals.

By
train, from Barcelona-El Prat airport: Take the RENFE train R10 to ‘Passeig de
Gràcia’ train station. Once there take metro line L3 direction to ‘Zona
Universitaria’ and get off at metro stop 'Liceu'. The hotel is at one minute
walking distance from the station.
