It lies, at 689 metres above sea level, in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda Mountains in a steep, mountainous area. The area is irrigated by the river Rio de la Fuente and numerous small streams cascading down from the mountains. It is situated in a commanding position near the ruins of a medieval fort.
